The Exploration Begins

Wow... I've finally done it... the leap into the unknown territory... to boldly go where no --- Hold on that sounds familiar!!!

Actually, I've just come off 2 days of presenting and participating in the Tuanz 2007 Education conference and have decided to take my own medicine and walk the talk...

The Web 2.0 interface is new for me... as a digital immigrant, however you have to start somewhere. I've been really inspired today (and yesterday) by Miguel Guhlin and so hopefully I can now get my school (and cluster) inspired too!

Next time I go to a conference, I will be able to proudly put up my hand and to acknowledge that I'm now a blogger! However, the challenge now lies ahead... to actually use this with my class of 5 year olds to perhaps create a wiki now and let the learning conversations begin. I feel very excited and apprehensive to take these first "steps"... but the journey begins...

Hi Justine! Way to go on setting up you blog and wiki (I found the message on your wiki hilarious, and that's part of the fun of the experience!)!

I hope you'll keep blogging. I've shared your experience on my blog and subscribe to you via Bloglines.com. I encourage you to get your own bloglines account so you can start tracking blogs and seeing what other New Zealanders--as well as other bloggers who may visit--are learning and sharing.

That will help you get to your idea of working with the kids much quicker.

Wishing you well and appreciative of your comments,

P.S. BTW, when you leave a comment on someone's blog, always be sure to leave the URL or web address of your blog in the text of the comment! It helps people find you who may want to read more based on your comment.

Hi Justine,

My name is Fred Delventhal. I am an instructional technology coordinator in Arlington, Virginia. I read Miguel's blog everyday. I would like to share your blog with all of my teachers. I work at two elementary schools, so I hope at least one will continue the communication.

My best bloggers as a whole are the primary teachers. Maybe this will open a conversation for our students that can break down those old traditional walls.

I will keep watching your blog by subscribing to it in my Google Reader! Keep on blogging.

Hi Justine

I will follow with interest how you use this with 5 year olds. I think kiwis are great the way we lead by example with our youngest students. I listened to a group of secondary teachers today putting up their hands and saying 'our kids can't do that....' and I was puzzled as to what they were thinking.
Good luck

Hi Justine

Like you, I've received inspiration from the TUANZ 2007 conferences. It will be interesting to see if our blogs do result in socially developed learning.
